Rock of Aging
By Deborah Montgomery
Music Adapted by Bill Paddock
Directed by Gary Carnes
Set at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the incomparable 60's and 70's rock band, the Rolling Emotions, plan their comeback tour. The 6-piece band and back up singers, the Emotionetts, soon realize the life of rock stars is a whole lot harder now that they're in their 50's. A new camaraderie is formed as they give their baby boomer songs new meaning singing about aging maladies such as weight gain, memory loss, and gastric issues (including the dreaded first colonoscopy, "Snake it up doctor, if you twist I'll shout". Together they learn that while aging "ain't for sissies," they're more than ready, with the help of their beloved music, to face and to celebrate all the challenges that growing older brings.
